GoodWe Inverter Fault Codes – The Complete Aussie Guide (2025)

Why GoodWe throws System Fault and Inverter Failure codes

GoodWe keeps things simple:

  • System Fault — something outside the box (grid, insulation, temperature).
  • Inverter Failure — a hardware or firmware issue inside the unit.

Both classes meet AS 4777.2:2020 protection rules, shutting down if voltage, frequency or leakage drifts out of spec.

Finding your code

  1. Single-phase DNS / three-phase SDT / MT, etc. – tap / until the LCD shows FAULT ##.
  2. Hybrid ES / EH / ET – open the PV Master or SolarGo app → Parameters → Alarm.
  3. SEMS PortalPlant → Alarms for remote checking.
  4. LED-only XS / SBP – count the red blinks, then match the table in the manual.

Press the Enter button to clear latched messages once the cause is fixed.

GoodWe Fault-Code Cheat-Sheet

System-Fault codes – grid, insulation & environment

CodeMessage on screen/appWhat it means in AU context
00GFCI Check TimeoutLeakage-test took too long – usually moisture on the roof
03Fac FailGrid frequency outside 49.5–50.5 Hz band
14Isolation FailPV–earth resistance < 200 kΩ (wet conduit or DC nick)
15Vac FailGrid voltage > 255 V or < 200 V
17PV Over-VoltageString Voc above inverter max (mis-strung array)
19Over TempHeat-sink > 85 °C – common on west-facing sheds
22Ground I FailLeakage current too high – check neutral/earth bond
23Utility LossGrid missing or AC isolator off
26 / 32GFCI FailGround-fault circuit failed self-test
29FAC FailSame as code 3 on some hybrids
30Ref 1.5 V FailLow-voltage rail out of spec

Inverter-Failure codes – internal hardware (call a sparky)

CodeMessageLikely fix
01SPI FailReboot; if persistent, main board swap
02EEPROM FailFirmware re-flash or control board
07 / 25Relay Check FailReplace relay board
12LCD Comm FailRibbon cable / LCD board
13DC Injection HighCT or power board fault
16E-Fan FailExternal 24 V fan or harness
20I-Fan FailInternal fan
21DC Bus HighDC-link capacitors or PV volts too high
24 / 31AC HCT FailOutput current sensor fault
30Ref 1.5 V FailLow-voltage reference rail

DIY checks before you call

  1. Full reboot: AC isolator → DC isolator OFF, wait 5 min, then DC → AC ON.
  2. Switchboard voltage: anything above 252 V will keep code 15 alive – Energex can drop the street tap.
  3. Moisture hunt: see codes 14/22? Open rooftop isolators and look for water or green earth screws.
  4. Airflow: clear 300 mm around the fins; a cheap shade hood knocks 15 °C off internal temps.

Safety first: anything inside the cover or DC connectors is licenced-sparky work in Queensland.

When to ring Universe Solar (Gold Coast)

  • Vac Fail (15) that reappears after sunrise despite 245–250 V at the switchboard.
  • Relay / fan / SPI faults (#01–02, #07/25, #16/20).
  • Isolation, GFCI or Ground-I codes that stick around in dry weather.
  • Battery or backup faults on ES/EH/ET hybrids.

Preventative care

  • Annual fan clean: DNS/SDT models have a clip-out grille – 5 min with a soft brush.
  • Firmware updates: SEMS → Maintenance → OTA Update – takes ~10 min.
  • Shade the inverter: arvo sun kills caps early.
  • Surge protection: fit DIN-rail arresters before the summer storm season.

FAQ

Q : Will a Vac Fail stop my feed-in tariff?
A : Yes—export drops to zero until grid voltage is back in range or the inverter resets.

Q : Can I change the safety country to widen limits?
A : No. AS 4777 settings are locked; only CEC-accredited installers can adjust them.

Q : My inverter shows Isolation Fail only after rain—bad?
A : Likely water inside a rooftop isolator. Dry it out and reseal, then reboot.
